Analysis of Causes and Solutions for Shaft Seal Leakage in Screw Air Compressors?

Causes:

1. Incorrect installation of the sealing ring.

2. Insufficient pressure at the oil seal lip.

3. Cracked sealing lip.

4. Damaged or worn sealing ring.

5. Rough or spotted shaft.

6. Incorrect seal type or material selection.

7. Excessive pressure.

8. Excessive temperature.

Solutions:

1. Install the sealing ring correctly; do not install it backwards or incorrectly.

2. Check if the seal dimensions are correct; check if the shaft is rough or spotted; check if the sealing material is of the correct specifications.

3. Check if the leak is caused by a rough shaft surface, the use of substandard sealing material, or excessively high sealing material temperature.

4. Replace with a new sealing ring.

5. Check the surface finish and chamfer specifications of the shaft to meet technical requirements.

6. Use a more suitable seal according to operational needs.

7. After the air compressor stops, pressure remains in the system, causing shaft seal leakage. We must first check whether the relief valve, outlet check valve, and air compressor shuttle valve are working properly to eliminate system pressure after shutdown. A check valve can be installed in the system piping to ensure that the system is pressure-free after the unit stops.

8. Select a more suitable sealing material according to operational requirements.
